About Me

My photo
My name is Robin. This is me. I'm 51 now - 5 years after I started this blog. I am an adoptive mom In an open non monogamous marriage, and enjoy my sex life more than I did at 25! Post menopausal - on bioidentical hormone therapy, Have had 2 plastic surgeries that I feel totally unapologetic about, Have lost 30 pounds and am more fit and healthy than I have ever been. I'm constantly in search of spiritual, health, and personal development. I want to share and learn from other women, I want to have fun, I want to talk about all the things that are embarrassing and that women of a certain age shouldn't talk about - yea right! I want to dress like a rock star, wear crazy makeup and be totally age INAPPROPRIATE. I want to do what it takes to look and feel energetic and young and I'm not ashamed of that. I'll work out, I'll eat right, I'll take supplements and hormones and I'll get plastic surgery, wear makeup and wear a the sexiest most smokin hot lingerie I can find So tune in if you want to see more - check your assumptions of who a 50 year old woman is at the fucking door - because this is not that blog!

Oh My Gosh! Our first lead!

Mom just called with our first lead. She knows someone who knows someone who might be interested in adopting! I must finish our profile this weekend and send it to my Mom to pass on. Everyone be wishing for the best, wouldn't that be amazing if we met the right person so soon?

Adoption Card

Here is our in work adoption card! Do we look goofy? I think Brian did a pretty good job of designing the card. All we are waiting for is getting our Parent Profiles website set up so that I can add the link to this card.
I hope someone chooses us quickly, it has been so hard waiting and I envy all our friends whose babies are doing fun things like getting little teeth and cute personalities. I used to wonder if I really wanted to be a mom, but after all that we have been through and after contemplating babies and seeing all the pain and joy that our friends have been through with thiers, now I have no doubt and the waiting seems too hard to bear. Another change has been how we want our relationship with our birth mother and dad to be. We really want to have an extended family through this adoption. I hope we have that perfect match where someone likes us enough to have that relationship. It also makes me more comfortable knowing that since Brian and I both have small families that our child would have that extended family in addition to the love and support of us and our families.
Anyway... Here is the card, hope it will go into circulation soon

Super cool inspiration for knits from WGSN! Get me some yarn! Oh wait, I have yarn and not enough time to knit. Get me some time!

Some things that I really love

Kitties of course
Coming home from work on a cold night and putting on yoga pants straight out of the dryer and my huge body engulfing ugly chenille sweater
Sitting in my cuddly crafty room with a candle lit and finishing a knitting project
A nice evening for a Tuesday!

Let's see if this works

My first post from work. Not that I will have time to be posting from work mind you. But I had to give it a shot. Donette sent me this link. Hmmmm, do I need a cupcake tissue holder?

This is such a cute nursery idea from Born Modern Baby blog

Lazy Sunday

Well, I didn't get much sleep because I broke my stupid pinky toe yesterday and it was freakin killing me last night and kept me awake because I was worried about rolling over on it. So I am a little tired. But I took lots of Advil today and it seems to be working better than the Alleve I took yesterday.
I made this necklace yesterday which I think turned out pretty cute.
Also worked on these roses which will be for Valentine's Day surprises for friends.

I told you this whole blog will end up being about knitting! I need to get Brian to post some stuff too. He made some insane black bean soup last night that he should post his recipe for.

Too much to knit

Today is pretty nasty so it is a perfect day to get caught up with a little crafting. Look at all the yarn in my queue! I have lots of baby gifts to make as well. Look at how adorable this hat is that I want to make!

Welcome to the Graff life!

Wow, our first blog! We'll see how this goes. The main purpose of this blog will be as a networking tool to help us make connection with birth parents in our adoption journey. We hope that even though our lives may not be very interesting to most, hopefully the right person will be interested in what they find here. We will be trying to give a glimpse into who we are beyond the adoption profile.
Aside from that I have always wanted to give blogging a try. I will probably be posting lots of crafty stuff as that seems to always be first and foremost in my mind (aside from starting our family). I also adore inspiration and style blogs and hope that we will post a lot of our inspirations.
Hopefully I will learn to be good at this and make a halfway decent blog for us and connect with some great people at the same time.
We attended our adoption networking class yesterday. It was a great class with a lot of ideas but I feel a little overwhelmed with all the things that need to get done. We really need to put some more focus on our efforts going forward. Our adoption study is almost finalized, only one letter from Jeannette (our family counselor) to go before the final approval. Then we will put together our adoption cards and start mailing them out.
